Ganga-like Devki's brother culled his seven (7) nephews and nieces in the prison (womb?)... and as his luck would have it, Krishna the eighth avatar (incarnation) of Vishnu escaped from his clutches... Perhaps such stories indicate the hand of the formless Shiva, the Mahakal, ie, the Controller of Time and related events in the unending Time Cycle...
